The St. Patrick's Day Metairie Road Parade is a family-friendly parade that takes place on Metairie Road in Old Metairie. The parade was founded in 1971 and features over 100 floats trucks bands marching clubs and throws. The parade is considered one of the top ten best and largest St. Patrick's Day Parades in the United States. Downtown Irish Club St. Patrick's Day Parade We will begin the parade at Washington Park. We will have a pre-party at the Marigny Brassiere (corner of Frenchmen St and Royal St) beginning at 4PM. Live music will be provided by "Catie B. & The Hand Me Downs". Route is same as last year and most of the Pub Stops as well. Parade will be permitted for 4 hours. But we will target to finish in 3 About the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade The parade begins on the corner of Felicity and Magazine streets around 1:00 PM (or a little earlier, depending on when mass ends). Floats, marching bands, and revelers dressed in green parade up Jackson Avenue, turning onto St. Charles Avenue, Louisiana Avenue, and back onto Magazine Street. The route is subject to change. Watch out for The Krewe of Argus has been rescheduled to parade alongside St. Patrick Metairie Road Parade. The approximately 3.6 mile route starts on 41st Street and Severn Avenue, proceeding south on Severn and turning left on Metairie Road. The St. Patrick's Day Parade will follow. Metairie Road from Severn Avenue to Focis Street will be closed to traffic starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday ahead of the St. Patrick’s Day Classic and parades.
